Days 22-28

Day 22.  Strength in Time of Trouble

Adapted from Psalm 37.  Dear Lord, give me the strength and wisdom not to fret because of evil doers, not to be envious toward wrongdoers for they wither quickly like the grass.   Instead I trust in You, Lord, to do good.  I delight myself in You, Lord, and You give me the desires of my heart.  I commit my way to You, Lord, and trust only in You.  You bring forth Your righteousness as the light and Your judgment as the noonday.  I rest in You, Lord, and wait patiently for You.  I will not fret because of the men who carry out evil schemes.  I cease from anger and forsake wrath.  Fretting leads only to evildoing.  I claim the promise for myself that those who wait for the Lord will inherit the land.  You, Lord, establish my steps, and I delight in Your way.  If I fall, I shall not be hurled headlong because You, Lord, are the One who holds my hand.  The salvation of the righteous is from the Lord.  You are my strength in time of trouble.  It is only You, Lord, who helps me and delivers me.  Amen.

Day 23.  Nothing Can Separate You

Adapted from Romans 8:31-37.  In the name of Jesus, I claim this mighty prayer in my own life.  If God is for me, who can be against me?  You who did not spare Your own son, but delivered Him up for my sin, how will You not also through Jesus freely give me all things and protect me through all circumstances?  Who can bring a charge against me as one of Your elect? Only You can justify!  What is able to separate me from Your love?  Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?  No!  In all of these things I overwhelmingly conquer through Your love.  For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any created thing are able to separate me from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus my Lord.  Amen.

Day 24.  Follow the Straight Path

Adapted from Proverbs 3:5-8.  Dear Lord, help me to trust in You with all my heart and not to lean on my own understanding.  In all my ways I acknowledge You, and I know that You will make my paths straight. Save me from being wise in my own eyes; help me to revere You in all things and turn away from evil.  I claim Your promise for healing to my body and refreshment in my bones when I follow Your path.  In the Holy name of Jesus I pray.  Amen.

Day 25.  Bear One Another’s Burdens

Adapted from Galatians 6:1-9.  Dear Father, I pray for a spirit of gentleness that I may help to restore those caught in trespass, at the same time examining my own faults, lest I too be tempted.  Give me the heart to bear the burdens of others and thus fulfill the desire of Christ.   Help me not to be deceived into thinking I am something; help me not to be boastful in regard to myself, but give me the wisdom to share the good things I have learned through You.   Help me to keep the faith and not to lose heart, knowing in Your good time, that having sowed to the Spirit, I will reap eternal life.  In the meantime, help me to do good to all men, especially to those in my household of faith.  I ask for the grace of Jesus Christ to strengthen my spirit and me.  Amen.

Day 26.   Spiritual Grief

Adapted from Psalm 119:25-32.  My soul cleaves to the dust, revive me according to Your word.  I have admitted my ways to You, and You have answered me.  Help me to better understand Your truth as I meditate on Your wonders.  My soul weeps because of grief over my past actions; strengthen me according to Your word.  Remove the false way from me and graciously grant me Your law. I want to choose the faithful way; I want to put Your will before me.  I cleave to Your testimonies.  Oh Lord, do not put me to greater shame than I have put myself!   I will run to You so that You will enlarge my withered heart with Your great love.   I claim total spiritual healing in the name of Jesus.  Amen

Day 27.  Heavenly Treasure

Adapted from Colossians 1:3-15.  I give thanks to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for greater faith in Jesus Christ and greater love to be shared with others.    I do this full of the hope laid up in heaven, according to the word of truth and the grace of God freely given.  I ask to be filled with the knowledge of Your will, spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that I may walk in a manner worthy of You, to please You in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work, and increasing in knowledge of God.  Strengthen me with all power according to Your glorious might to become more steadfast, patient, joyful, giving thanks for my share of the inheritance in Christ’s kingdom.   I ask all of this in the name of Jesus Christ, the first-born of all creation and the image of the invisible God.  Amen.

Day 28.  Wise Heart, Sweet Words

Adapted from Proverbs 16:20-24.  Dear Lord, I pray that I may pay attention to Your word in order to find good, and that I will be blessed as I trust in You.  Give me a wise heart to be discerning, and give me sweetness of speech to increase my persuasiveness for Your will. Give me a wise heart to control my mouth. Give me kind and pleasant words to be like a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones, to those You put in my path today.  In the name of Jesus, Amen.
