Days 37-40

Day 37.  Focus on the Good

Adapted from Philippians 4:4-8.   I rejoice in the Lord always, again I say, rejoice!  Dear Father, I pray that my forbearing spirit is known to all men.  I know that You are always at hand.  I claim Your peace that surpasses all comprehension and ask that my heart and mind be guarded in Christ Jesus.  I ask that my mind dwell only on whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute.  If there is anything excellent and worthy of praise, let my mind focus on these things.  I pray all of this so that God’s peace will remain with me, and I will continue to rejoice greatly in the Lord.  In the name of Jesus.  Amen.

Day 38.  Spiritual Warrior’s Prayer

Adapted from Ephesians 6:10-18.  Finally, help me to be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of His might.  Help me to put on the full armor of God that I may be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.  For my struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.  Therefore, help me to take up the full armor of God to enable me to resist the evil of today, and having done everything, to stand firm. Help me to stand firm, having girded my loins with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod my feet with the preparation of the Gospel of Peace.  In addition, I take up the shield of faith with which I am able to extinguish all the flaming missiles of the evil one.   And I take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.  With all prayer and petition, I pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, I remain on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints.  I do all of this in the name of Jesus.  Amen.

Day 39.  Seek God in Time of Trouble

Adapted from Psalm 143.  Hear my prayer, Oh Lord.  Give ear to my supplications!  Answer me in Your faithfulness and in Your righteousness.  I feel crushed and persecuted by the enemy.  He has crushed my life to the ground and made me dwell in dark places.  Therefore, my spirit is overwhelmed within me; my heart is desolate within me.  I stretch out my hands to You, my soul longs for You.  Answer me quickly, Oh Lord, as my spirit fails.  Do not hide Your face from me…Let me hear Your loving kindness in the morning, for I trust in You.  For the sake of Your name, revive me.  In Your righteousness, bring my soul out of trouble…For I am Your servant.  In all things, Your will be done, Amen.

Day 40.   Empowered to Act

Adapted from Ephesians 3:20-21.  Now by You who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly more than I could ever ask or imagine, according to the power that works within me, to You be the glory in the church and in Jesus Christ to all generations forever and ever.  Amen.
