We are going to explore these kinds of questions for six weeks, beginning on January 16, and I invite you to join the conversation. The book from which we will work is CHRISTIANITY AND WORLD RELIGIONS, by the Reverend Adam Hamilton. You can get the book from Amazon.com and it also comes in a Kindle format.

Here is a sample of what we will consider:

Class #1 World Religions and Questions People Ask

Suggested Prayer for Inspiration:

"From the cowardice that dare not face new truth

From the laziness that is contended with half truth,

From the arrogance that thinks it knows all truth,

Good Lord, deliver me. Amen" Kenyan Prayer

Purpose and Structure

  • We hope to build bridges in a diverse world so that we may come to

  1. Learn to understand our neighbors and

  2. Learn to love neighbors (1st Great Commandment)

  • This course is very basic—

  • We know this kind of study is a life-long pursuit

  • We hope to enrich our understanding of our own faith

  • As we become clear about where we

  • Connect and

  • Differ

  • We hope to come to understand eventually that people are unique, too, and that not all Hindu, Buddhist, Islam, Jewish or Christian believers are the same.
